RE: Cheap Gas! $2.859 Yesterday

Man, and I was pretty happy filling up last night for $3.59... popped my bubble. Of course, in Traverse City, the view of the bay is half the pay so we always get to pay more :)

RE: Looking for 24' to 26' Class A

There's a short one for sale about 2 miles from my place. Pace Arrow I think, but never stopped to take a look. It looks kinda funny being so short. If you're interested i could stop by and take a look. PM me.

RE: neat conversion

There's one in Marquette, MI harbor that takes a step ladder to enter, but it's purpose is for short trips in da U.P., and then to pull there 30+ something boat which they live on in the summer. Practical yes, beautiful, "only in the eyes of the beer holder" :)

My advice, have one person do all the talking or get your stories straight. I gave one answer on booze, and my DW gave another.... bingo, you just won the "search" prize. :)

Onan Surge

Rv: 1992 Itasca 454 gas
Onan 6.5 NH
Problem: Hard starting, then surging and wouldn't keep running.
Started pulling it out (generator slide out envy here) and had to pull it so far out to change plugs, and thought, points that I eventually pulled it all the way out, put it on a pallet and hauled it to the shop. Turns out it has electronic ignition.
Turns out it was the diaphram pulloff, tube choke HSG, and element thermostat. Of course, the real finding was that the voltage regulator was fried, and was kicking out 160 volts. A good thing to find before it burned out air conditioners, microwave etc.
Shop changed out the voltage regulator.
Installed yesterday and it runs great, kicking out the right voltage.
Thanks to Cummins Bridgeway in Traverse City for the great job.

RE: Its hot

Mine has a turn knob on the dash that shuts off the circulation to the rear. If not, a valve could easily... well sort of... be installed along the pipe line someplace. Look for the knob next to the rear fan knob, it should be there. Hope this helps.

RE: Class A Hot Water Heater Survey?

Wow, guess I'm in the minority here. We seldom turn it on until really needed. Put a large coffee maker on electric for dishes etc., but with a 20 min. lead time, we get all the propane hot water we need. While going down the road our engine transfers heat to the hot water system which also lasts for hours after arriving someplace.

RE: Fitch fuel catalyst anyone

Good to know that it's been around before. Thought it was something new because of similar technology to exhaust systems... Guess I'm gonna save my money till I see some other real world info.

Fitch fuel catalyst anyone

Anybody using the Fitch Fuel Catalyst? I'm considering putting one on so the fuel that sits a little too long will be fresh in the engine. Opinions?

RE: Looking for a take it all trailer

Sounds like you need to switch to a Super C Garage unit... tows 40,000 lbs. and hauls quite a bit as well. :)

RE: Stabilizing a Class A that does not have levelers..

Glad you guys are using my ramp idea that got published in trailer life :) I use blocks as well, but drill through the high side of all together, put a wire as a handle through all ramps, then I can swivel any out of the way that would make it too high. Oh, I also angle cut the edges for easier driving on. I do have stabilizing jacks, but never carry them anymore since I never used them.

RE: I found it!

Lets see, down the hill behind the back building, next to the two wood sheds... I go by it with the tractor as I haul wood to the furnace, seems like there's something there under the adco cover... still 2' of snow everywhere with banks over 6'... nope, can't dig it out yet. Maybe next month :(

RE: Midway RV Center - Grand Rapids

While we haven't upgraded yet, I'm very pleased with the service and communication at Midway. We deal with Chad DeMaat and he seems like a great guy. Always clean used models available, competitively priced. Just my .02$.

RE: calgary

Last, and only Calgary Stampede we stayed at the campground next to the Olypmpic ski slope, then parked at the nearest lot with train access to the fairgrounds. They even had plug in's at the parking lot for the train. Worked for us. Had a great time.

RE: Class A with a side-loading garage ????

Just sat in the Smart Car at the Detroit Auto Show. Lots of room, but not much distance between the bumper and the passenger roll cage. My biggest concern would be with the gas engine only getting 33 to 36 mpg. There are bigger toads that can do that. Cute though.

RE: Honda Fit as a toad.

As a follow-up to the Honda Fit being towed: In the owners manual it states that is is indeed towable, and has the full procedure before towing. Since I've read similar info in my Jeep GC manual, I'd take it for sure. It's towable.
Bought mine two weeks ago, now I have to decide which company to go with in getting base plate and new tow bar.

RE: Toad suggestions, advice?

Agree, what do you want to do with the toad? We've towed an early Bronco, now a Jeep GC Limited, and just bought a Honda Fit. We do less off roading, and use the sea kayaks while traveling less and less so just needed bikes and hiking shoes. Hope the fit meets our needs, but hey, I'm fixing up the Jeep for a little more off roading and will keep the hook ups for those times when its needed.
